The Oil Silos as Greek Hydrias is a public art project proposal that envisions industrial oil silos transformed into monumental artworks. Inspired by ancient Greek Hydrias—large vessels historically used to store liquids—this project reimagines these towering structures as colossal vases adorned with modern narratives, icons, and motifs reflecting the diversity of contemporary cultures. The result is a visually striking and thought-provoking spectacle, merging industrial form with timeless storytelling.
This concept, which I detailed in the Fall 2023 issue of RQ / RUST, has led to a painterly experiment. I envisioned and explored one possible interpretation of this public artwork on a large-scale canvas, further bringing the idea to life through the medium of painting.
